HANOIfreedoublejokerpoker, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam reported one more diphtheria case in the northern province of Bac Giangfreedoublejokerpoker, local online newspaper Suc Khoe & Doi Song (Health and Life) under Vietnam's health ministry reported Thursday.

According to the report, the female patient, born in 1995, working at a local internet cafe, had meals with a person confirmed later to be infected with diphtheria.

She has been reportedly self-quarantined since July 7 after learning that her friend tested positive for diphtheria. She is currently being treated at the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases in capital Hanoi.

Seven people were identified to have been in direct contact with her.

Early this week, Vietnam reported a diphtheria death case who was an 18-year-old female student in the central province of Nghe An.

Among seven students who shared dormitory rooms with the deceased, two reportedly traveled to Bac Giang province. One of them tested positive for diphtheria.■
