ULAN BATORdragonslotmachine, July 2 (Xinhua) -- The first session of Mongolia's new parliament convened here on Tuesday.

Duger Regdel, aged 72 and the oldest member of the parliament, presided over the inaugural session. The election of the official speaker is expected to occur soon.

Mongolian President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh addressed newly elected legislators during the session, saying, "The ninth parliamentary elections were conducted fairly and successfully. Now, it is imperative that we all focus on the environment, national production and strategic deposits, and implement industrialization policies to meet domestic needs for food, energy and fuel, and enhance trade and investment."

Khurelsukh urged the legislators to prioritize national interests over personal interests.■
